Join us for a trip around the churches of the Diocese of Bydgoszcz. The website has been established as a part of the project Protection and value increase of cultural heritage in the Diocese of Bydgoszcz’s region – revalorization and conservation of wooden historical buildings, financed from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.

Wielki Buczek

In the church in Wielki Buczek one can see an exceptional and extremely valuable painting which is almost 400 years old. What does the symbolical painting present? Who was portrayed?

Batorowo

In the church in Batorowo there is an untypical construction made from wooden posts. Although now it seems useless, in the past it had a very important function. What was it?

Wysoka

250 years ago an excellent sculpture workshop of Ephraim Gerlach found its way to the church in Wysoka. In accordance with the artistic trends of the time, he introduced extremely rich decorations to the building. There were almost 50 figures of patron saints and angles among them.

AIMS OF
THE PROJECT

The project “Protection and value increase of cultural heritage in the Diocese of Bydgoszcz’s region – revalorization and conservation of wooden historical buildings” is carried out by thirteen entities including the Diocese of Budgoszcz – the Leading Partner and twelve parishes from the Diocese of Bydgoszcz’s area, in the regions of Kujawy-Pomerania and Greater Poland provinces.

The project involves renovation and conservation works of mobile, wooden historical objects which are elements of the churches’ furnishings and construction works in five churches, which main aim is first and foremost to counteract the negative impact of time, protect cultural heritage and develop cultural resources.

Apart from the above-mentioned actions and educational and cultural events, such as: pipe-organ concerts, bike rides, photography exhibitions, and also open-air painting, the project  involves also a creation of virtual route of wooden monuments, a mobile tourist guide in a form of a phone and tablet application, and implementation of solutions directed to the blind and visually-impaired.

The above-mentioned actions will allow for a realization of indirect project’s aims, such as:

  • increase in the number of visitors and people who use the places included in the project which belong to cultural and natural heritage and which are alsotourist attractions;
  • facilitation of access to the buildings for the disabled;
  • impact on the recognition of the region’s touristic attractiveness;
  • increase of region’s competitiveness.

Actions planned for realization will contribute to preservation and maintenance of historical and cultural heritage in a supralocal scale as well as influence  the increase of touristic attractiveness of the Diocese of Bydgoszcz’s area.

EU subsidy for the project:  13,365,570.36 PLN
